First Steps consists of training courses and stand-alone teacher resources, linking assessment, planning and teaching for NLS and providing strategies and activities for the classroom. This whole-school programme includes guidance on mixed-ability or age teaching and involving parents.

This kit helps students overcome the problems of learning to read "abstract" words by pairing them with gestures and icons. The Bridge Reading Kit has been successfully and extensively used in a variety of applications and is recommended for beginning readers, for special education students, and for primary ESL students. After about ten weeks using Bridge, many children have a sight-reading vocabulary of about 50 words. Children cannot fail to read as long as they are able to recognize a picture, and what's more, this program allows children to experience the fun and pleasure which comes from reading books
Provides multiple thematic reading selections for each comprehension skill, allowing students to build content knowledge while giving teachers the framework for scaffolded instruction. The multiple selection format allows teachers to withdraw support gradually from selection to selection, as students gain confidence in using comprehension strategies flexibly and independently.
